Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Missouri

I have shared ownership of a home I live in (10yrs). I'm now being asked to pay rent. Do I legally have to pay for something I own?

If there is more than one owner, but only one lives there, they owe the proportionate share of rent the other owner(s) would earn if the house was rented out to a disinterested tenant.
