Re: Accident
I am not certain that I understand the facts as you stated them. Here is what I perceive. You were backing a car in a parking lot and hit another car. You did not have insurance on the car you were driving. The damage to the other person's car appeared to be slight. You paid the other driver $300.00 and they accepted it for the damage to their car. You thought the matter was over and done with.
You came back to the US and somehow were told that you were to pay the other driver's insurance company $3,000. You have been driving on a foreign driver's license each time.
If these are the true facts, then I think you may be able to prevent having to pay the $3,000 claim against you. IF however, the claim is for bodily injury to someone, or for damage to the car you were driving, and the claim is from the insurer of the car you were driving, that would change the scenario enough to perhaps change the answer to your question. Whose car were you driving when you had the collision? Was the other person injured, or are they now claiming that they were?
From which country is your driver's license? How long do you plan to stay here on your business visa this time? How did you find out about the $3,000 insurance claim against you? Do your realize it is a crime to merely drive a car in Kansas or Missouri when it is not insured?
