Legal Question in Traffic Law in Missouri
Do I need Council?
I recently witnessed an accident and one of the parties has asked for my deposition. Should I seek legal council, before I give the deposition or do you think it is necessary?

Re: Do I need Council?
Certainly you may obtain legal counsel, at any point in your life, or to deal with almost any situation. However, you may not need one for a deposition. If you wre merely a witness, you have nothing to fear. The person who contacted you (most likely an attorney) wants to get your version of the event on record. If you have no previous exposure to law suits, it can be daunting. But, you will merely be asked questions under oath in front of a private stenographer (court reporter.) You may be asked to draw a diagram of what you describe, or to comment on diagrams already made by one side or the other.
