I would like to know if it is a traffic violaton if you fail to use your directional signals when turning? This instance there was absolutey no traffic in either direction, I was the only car on the street. Thank you very much. Sandy

Re: The use of directional signals

There are statutes and ordinances which require a driver to use the directional signals when turning or changing lanes. I would have to know more facts and see your ticket before I could check to see if this is true and applicable in your particular case. I can tell you that this would be a moving violation and you will receive points assessed against your driving record by the Department of revenue if you plead guilty or take a conviction. It is usually a good idea to hire an attorney to negotiate a plea bargain with the prosecutor to avoid having those points assessed, or defend you on the charge if appropriate. I handle these cases all the time and you may call me at the office if you wish.
