Legal Question in Traffic Law in Missouri

Incorrect age on tickets

I was recently traveling from Colorado to Illinois when I was pulled over in Missouri for following another car too closely, the police officer ended up searching my car and issued a ticket for Posession of Marijuana and a ticket for Paraphernalia, in addition to a ticket for following too closely. On each of these three tickets the officer miscalculated my age as being a year older than I actually am, my birthday is correct, but he had put 25 rather than 24 for my age. Would this be enough to make my tickets void??

Re: Incorrect age on tickets

The mistake on the tickets does not give you any defense. You need to hire an attorney in Missouri. In most of these cases, depending on which county you were stopped in, we can negotiate a plea bargain which will keep the more serious matters off of your record. At your age, it is extremely important that you do whatever you can to keep these things from becoming convictions on your record. Please follow my advice and hire an attorney.

Re: Incorrect age on tickets

Probably not. Unless the statute or ordinance you are charged under is age-dependent, the scrivener's error of a wrong age is irrelevant.

Let me know if you need legal representation on these tickets.
