Legal Question in Traffic Law in Missouri
I live in a duplex in Belton, Missouri. I live with 3 other roommates and each of us have our own car. We sometimes park in the street especially when we have guests over. Today a cop came to our house and told us we cannot have that many cars parked in the street because our neighbir (he specifically told us which one) keeps on calling the cops on us. He said if it happens again every car in the street will get a ticket. Is this legal? Believe me I know how cops have tried twisting the law to scare people. I just want to know if this is a scare tactic or if this really is a legal law. thank you.
1 Answer from Attorneys
As long as the vehicles are be moved every 72 hrs, and are not otherwise parked illegally, I am unaware of any charge that one mght get ticketed for, under the facts you described. There may be facts you were unable to provide that would change that assessment. If you should get ticketed for parking on the street, they you and your attorney can address the offense charged. Have you tried talking with the neighbor to see what their complaint is?
Good luck
