Legal Question in Traffic Law in Missouri
numerous unpaid speeding tickets
I just had to bail my daughter out of jail. She has 3 unpaid speeding tickets, 1 driving under suspension ticket and 1 driving with no license ticket. Should I get an attorney for her court dates? What can she expect when she goes to court and is there a possibility of getting these knocked down to lesser offenses to save her license and keep her insurance from going through the roof? Any help would greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Your daughter would definitely benefit from hiring and attorney to sort through this situation. It is difficult though to give a general answer about what she can expect in court, or whether she can get a lesser charge. Every city and county has its own policy on handling amended tickets, so if the tickets are from different places there may be several possibile outcomes. However, if they are in different places it could be helpful, because then they would not have knowledge of all the different tickets.
You should contact an attorney as soon as possible though, so she can avoid any more warrants for failing to appear.
Re: numerous unpaid speeding tickets
Without knowing what jurisdiction she has been charged in, and why her license was suspended, it is nearly impossible to tell you the range of possiblities. However, it is clear that she will do beter with an attorney, than without. The sooner she has someone advocating for her, the better.
Good Luck, le tme know if i can help

Yes, you should definitely hire an attorney to represent your daughter on all of these charges. She should also be educated on how to handle her legal problems better in the future. You are correct to be concerned about the effect convictions will have with your insurance carrier, but there are other serious consequences that would follow convictions which should also be avoided if at all possible. For instance, a conviction for a driving while suspended charge will result in the Missouri Department of Revenue suspending or revoking your daughter's driver's license possibly for up to one year. Also, any conviction on these charges will result in points being assessed against her driving record, and an accumulation of points may also result in further suspension of her driving privilege. If she currently has a valid license, or can get one, then it is likely that all of the pending charges can be disposed of by way of plea bargains which would avoid convictions and all of the unpleasant consequences that convictions would bring. If these cases are on the Eastern side of the state, you may call me for further advice or assistance.
