Legal Question in Traffic Law in Missouri

Can a resident of Missouri own a vehicle that has Illinois license plates? He has been a resident of Missouri, for twenty years plus. He has had Illinois plate for that amount of time. Is this legal?

If a person is domiciled in issour for maore than 30 days, they are to obtain a missouri tag for their vehicles here. But, some people have more than one domicile, so they get a vehicle tagged where it is used most. This is comon for people who spend Summers in the Midwest and Winters in Florida. I hav ento heard of flolks dviding between illinois na dMissouri, but it is theoretically possble. Also if a person owns real estate in another stat then where they live, they have vehicles licensed to different states.

But, if it is case where a person lives in in one statei, but licenses their vehicle elsewhere to avoid paying taxes and fees, it is a crime. In some counties the district attorney''s office pays a reward to folks who report such tax evasion activity.

Good luck
