Legal Question in Traffic Law in Missouri

Schoolbus passing in Missouri

I was on a 2 lane, one way hwy headed south--there were also 2 one way lanes heading north which are divided by a median. I got into the left turning lane--a 3rd seperate lane that was seperated with an additional ''V'' strip painted off that separates it from the original 2 lanes I was traveling on (in order to cross over the other 2 lanes headed north). A school bus happened to pull over on the far right side of the southbound hwy. While I was already in the turning lane, the schoolbus's red lights started to flash red as I pulled even to it. Even though we were separated by a lane and a painted off ''V'' section of the hwy & I was turning off into the opposite direction, was it illegal for me to pass them?

YES, But persons traveleing North across the median would not be required to stopp for the flashing light bus.
