Legal Question in Traffic Law in Missouri

Suspended License

Hi. I was pulled over while driving on a suspended license. It wasn't a DUI or anything, I just didn't know it was suspended. I got pulled over for a broken light and was informed my license was suspended for a ticket I thought was taken care of. I have a court date now and need to know if I should get a lawyer and what the penalty could be. Please help.

Re: Suspended License

Yes, I would definitely advise you to hire an attorney. An attorney may be able to arrange everything so that you can obtain a full reinstatement of your driving privilege, make sure that any previous tickets are completely taken care of and closed, and then plea bargain the Driving While Suspended charge so that you do not take a conviction on your record. A conviction on this charge, requires at least a two day jail sentence, and will result in another suspension or revocation of your drivng privilege. If you do not already have an attorney, I have handled many of these over the thirty years I have been practicing, so feel free to call.
