Legal Question in Traffic Law in Missouri

Ticket

I received a ticket about a year ago for speeding. Was 27pmh over limit. Was mistaken about the speed limit in that area as I have only lived in St louis for a month at that time. I have not paid it. Would it be possible for me to call the prosecutor myself and ask for a plea bargin or pay via mail or would i have to turn myself in since there is a warrant out for me?

Re: Ticket

I have been handling cases like yours throughout Missouri and Illinois for over twenty-three years. In most jurisdictions the prosecutor will not be willing to talk to you by telephone, and will not be very likely to make any deals directly with you under the circumstances. If you insist upon representing yourself, the normal procedure would be for you to turn yourself in and post a bond, then appear in Court on your Court date. Obviously it would be better for you to avoid a conviction, the resulting points against your record, and your insurance carrier finding out about the ticket. I would strongly suggest that you hire an attorney to represent you. The attorney will probably be able to have the warrant cancelled without your having to be arrested. The attorney may also be able to work out a plea bargain which will avoid all of the negative consequences mentioned above. If you are not already represented by legal counsel, you may call me for a free telephone consultation at 314-727-2822.
