Legal Question in Traffic Law in Missouri
Traffic Tickets
If I have 16 traffic tickets, and one resisting arrest charge,is there any statute of limitations on prosecuting if I did not appear in court? Is there a time in which the charges are no longer prosecutable after so long?

To answer your question, unlike the other attorney who posted a "reply", there is no statute of limitations that will help you in this situation. The fact that the charge is issued means that the charge will remain pending until taken care of one way or the other. I have handled hundreds of cases in which the defendant failed to appear in Court. Usually, I am able to get the warrant cancelled or at least make arrangements for my client to voluntarily surrender under circumstances that allow for the making of a bond and the quickest processing possible. You didn't say, but it seems likely that you did not get all of these charges in the same place. Therefore any attorney you hire should be licensed and experienced in whichever Court you need legal services. Sometimes, even with the extreme situation you have, an attorney can still avoid you having to take a conviction on any particular charge, which is very important. The assault charge might be a misdemeanor, or could even be a felony which, of course would make everything that much more difficult and that much more important for you to get an attorney on right away. Beware of lawyers like the first one to reply to your question who only use this list in order to solicit your business. It is O.K. to hire one of us off of this site, but the site is not intended to be used by lawyers soley to advertise and beg for business. To many of us, that behavior is unprofessional, and possibly even unethical.
