Legal Question in Traffic Law in Missouri
Traffic Violation for expired insurance
My husband got pulled over and was given a ticket only for 2 day expired insurance. He was given a court date and the police officer wrote the time in military time and my husband didn't realize and went two hours late. They told him to come back either the next day or the following Friday. Well that Friday came around and he forgot about the new court date. We got a letter in the mail saying he had a warrant now and the bond was $200. We did have up to date insurace when all of this happened but the insurace company had not mailed us our new cards yet. Are we going to have to pay the $200 or do you think they may just let him show the proof and go on?

Re: Traffic Violation for expired insurance
No. If your husband "shows up" he will be arrested and held in custody until the bond is paid. I would suggest that you hire an attorney. In most cases we are able to get the warrant recalled and cancelled without the necessity of your husband being arrested. Then, the attorney can present the proof of insurance to the Court and the case will be disposed of with your husband paying some money but, in most cases, without taking a conviction. Good luck.
