Legal Question in Traffic Law in Missouri

wrong veh in accident report

I was in a very minor fender bender and the other guy did not get any other information besides my name and cell phone number. now he has filed an accident report against me and everything in it is a lie. he doesn't have any info other than my name. The car was wrong, too. So I signed a denial of involvement b/c the car type is wrong and sent it back. Can I get in trouble for this?

Re: wrong veh in accident report

If you are asking whether you can be criminally prosecuted for making afalse statement to teh Police, the answer is "yes". If you are asking whether the fact that you originally tried to deny the accident b/c the car was listed wrong, can be used against you in civil court, then the answer is unclear. It could be used to impeach you if you later try to contest the other parts of the accidnet report. But that is not too likely to occur, if you had insurance.

You will have to be more specific in your question or facts provided, if this does not answer your question.
