Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Missouri

In 2008 I bought a house with my boyfriend at the time, putting his name on the title only, not the loan. He lived there from March to August. He put $1000 down and paid the mortgage, while I paid the bills for that time, last we spoke he was wanting money to sign a quit claim deed. Prior to that, I supported him for a year, otherwise I would have no problem doing so. I am wanting to refinance and would like to know what he would be entitled to.

If you are compelled to file a lawsuit (it would be a suit in Partition), the court would consider the financia contributions of the parties, and then order the property sold and the proceeds divided. So, it would save you a great deal of money and possibly allow you to refinance and keep the home if you can come to an agreement with your "boyfriend". An attorney may be able to help you calculate a reasonable amount and negotiate a settlement.
