Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Missouri

Beneficiary Deed & Credit Card Debt

My mother recently passed away. Her estate consists of a house with 2 mortgages, with maybe $20,000 in total equity. She left the house to my sister and I through a Beneficiary Deed. She owed over $20,000 in credit card debt. Because of the Beneficiary Deed, there should be no probate on the house, and she has no other assets. There was enough life insurance to pay off the 2 mortgages. Can the credit card companies come after the house and force us to sell it to pay off that debt if there will be no probate?

Re: Beneficiary Deed & Credit Card Debt

No, title to the house passed upon your mother's death via the Beneficiary Deed, and a credit card creditor of your mother's has no claim against the house.
