Probate notice rules

I'll give you the California rules, which may or may not apply to you. If the probate is filed here, everyone mentioned in the will must receive notice of the probate hearing, as well as everyone who would receive something if there were no will.

The second group will usually be only one "generation," such as children, grandchildren, or siblings. However, if one member of the group died leaving children, those children will receive the notice.
