Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Missouri

My grandmother died a year ago and only had a home worth about $10,000 to claim as assets. Prior to her death my father and her grandson were granted Power of Attorney since she had Alzheimers. She spent close to a year in a nursing home. I believe she had medicaid. My understanding is that the nursing home bill is close to $65,000. I know they will most likely have to pay off some of the debt with the sale of the home (the state has a lien against it), but will they be held personally liable for the balance of the debt?

Unless they otherwised agreed to persoanly pay for your grandmother's housing and care, it is unlikely that your father and the other grandson woudl be personally lible for the reminder of the nursing home bill.

Good luck
