who do i have to notify regarding my father's death?

Please accept my sympathies at your father's passing. If he had a Will, you should probably take that Will to an attorney. The Will should be filed with the Probate Court. Even if there was no Will, you shold probably consult with an attorney. Depending upon the nature and extent of any assets owned by your father in his name alone at the time of his death, the attorney may advise you regarding the opening of a Probate Estate. If there are other potential heirs, their legal rights must be considered. If there were creditors, their legal rights must be considered as well.
