Man died intestate 49 yrs. Ago, leaving house and furniture in k. C., mo

He was on a cruise following his wife's death and was buried at sea due to no heirs to claim body. We just found out about it. He left a house and furniture. My sister and I are the only heirs. At what point does State sell the house?

He's had a house standing vacant for 49 years? Give me a call if it happened in Illinois. I can help but I need more detail. You may have other problems like adverse possession.
