my mother passed away with no will. all she had was personal possessions.. do i need to do anything? what is the value that ones personal items must value at before probate is necessary?

Contact the probate Departmetn of the Circuit court of the county where your mother lived. This is one area of th elaw where clerks can give you some guidance. If you find that your mother had too much to qualify of a samll estate, or you think you might want the protection a probate estate affords, then contact a probate attorney to answer any lingering questions.
