Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Missouri
I was named as a beneficiary of a will from a friend of the family. Our friend passed in Feb of 2010. The will went through probate and I was told it would be completed by oct of 2010. I have contacted the atty for the deceased and they are not give a definitive answer as to when the funds will be disbursed. If I understand correctly the atty has one year from his death to pay these funds is that correct?

Those with awill have up to one year form teh date of death to preent the will for probate. Once the estate is opened, it can take form several month to several years to finish adminstering the estate. The person to talk to is the Persaonl Representative. Theri attorney may nto be willign to taklk to you, because they will nto get paid for that conversation. The PR does. You may also follow the estate thropugh the particular court's online system or the Case.net system.
