Networth of recpients of an estate

Is there any reason why an attorney would need to know the networth of the recipients of an estate? My wife's uncle died and his will states that his three sisters are to receive equal shares of his estate ( $650,000). Now supposedly the attorney is wanting to know the networth of each of the sisters. Any idea why this would be? Thanks.

I could only speculate. Why don't you or the beneficiaries ask the attorney, then re-post the question with his or her response?
