Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Missouri
Return of property
My wife had loaned her sister some furniture items, a hutch, 55 gal wooden barrel and a pot belly stove. Her sister died about 30 days ago and the sister's daughter was the only living child and she was divorced so the daughter got the house, car etc. As far as we know there was no will.
Now here is the problem, my wife called here niece after several weeks wanting to get her belongings back. The niece refuses to give back that pot belly stove which originally belonged to my wife's grandmother who had given it to my wife.
What recourse does she have?

Re: Return of property
Your wife could file suit seeking the return of her property and/or money damages. Sometimes a well-worded letter from an attorney will get the desired results without actually having to prosecute a lawsuit.
