revocable trust

mom died 5/10/09, w/stepdad as successor trustee, she had set up her IRA and a TOD acct. she put 4 in the rec'ing end. one died B4 her. Now the bank wants the trust to be interpated, a seperate acct set up for the dead bro. this part I understand but why the interp of the revoc trust? it was drawn up by an estate atty?

This is a tough one to answer without knowing a lot more. Typically a beneficiary designation overrides any Trust unless the trust IS the beneficiary. I assume you have asked why they neeed the interpretation. If you haven't, that would be the thing to do. It could be as simple as the Bank not being familiar with the way trusts work. We do see that from time to time. Unless you are uncomfortable for some reason this would be a good question for the drafting attorney. Let us know if you need more help.
