common law marriage
My fiance and I would like to get married but cannot because he will lose his disability benefits and we will end up with an income of $400/mo. Will he lose his benefits if we have a common law marriage?

There is no common law marriage in the Commonwealth but such marriages which have come about under the laws of other jurisdictions may be recognized in Virginia.
