Legal Question in Business Law in Montana
Check Endorsement
If a company accepts a check for an amount less than a total bill for a customer and the customer writes in the memo area on a check ''payment in full'' and the company deposits that check. Does that constitute payment in full or does the company endorsement on the back of the check need to say ''payment in full'' above the endorsement?

Re: Check Endorsement
The language stating "paid in full" must be conspicuous. There has to be sufficient knowledge by the person cashing the check that they are accepting less. Honestly, I don't know if it has to be on the front or the back.
