Legal Question in Criminal Law in Montana

i have a bench warrent in another state,

it was originally issued a 280 $ fine and told them i was moving out of state and would do community service for the payment . i got to my new home less then 2 weeks after my court date and called them to see if i could get a copy of my court papers so i could go to the courthouse and set up my community service , she proceeded to tell me i was past my time and a warrant was issued when they clearly gave me 60 days and i took lees then 2 weeks . any ideas what i could do ? this was almost 5 years ago FYI . . .

If the warrant is from a court in another state, then you need to resolve it in that state instead of the one where you live now. Montana has no authority over your out-of-state case.

How to deal with a bench warrant varies from one state to another. Since you haven't even told us which state issued the warrant, this is the best answer I can give you.
