Early termination of probation

I have served 7.5 yrs of an 18 yr sentence. Fraud committed in Mt but since I was living in Fl my probation is being served here. The office here in Fl was contacted in April 2006 to review my case for possible conditional release from probation if all conditions of probation had been met. They have. i heard nothing until I called the office in Missoula and found out that it had been denied. The county attorney would not sign off he said I needed to serve 2 more yrs. Would it be to my advantage to pursue legal representation to see if termination is possible? Why did Mt contact the office here if it was going to be denied?
