Re: Suspended vs deffered sentences
A sentence which is imposed and then the execution of the sentence is suspended, usually pending the satisfactory completion of probation, is referred to as a "suspended sentence." A deferred sentence is not imposed, and if probation is successfully completed it is never imposed and the case is dismissed.
