If you do not have court-ordered child support, your first step is to complete a Child Support Financial Affidavit and submit it with a motion to establish child support. If you have a parenting order, you will file the motion as part of that court matter. If you don't have a parenting order, even though father has not seen the child except one time, consider filing that, too. If child has a step-father, he will be better protected with an order that recognizes him as a your daughter's co-parent in cases of emergency (for example, providing medical care when you aren't there).
