Legal Question in Family Law in Montana

Records of police files

My husband and I are getting ready to go to court to fight for custody of his sons. they currently reside in montana. One of the boys told us how his mom and her live-in boyfriend hit each other all of the time. My husband remembers 2 seperate incidents within the last 1.5 years where his ex had called the cops on this same boyfriend and had him thrown in jail for domestic violence.

To get our ducks in a row, can we get copies of those police reports? How do we go about it? Thank you

Call their office first and see if you can get them without filing with them a request under the freedom of Information Act and they should give it to you. If not then you will have to file under the act. I don't know where this is located however, since I'm not an attorney of that state.
