Legal Question in Employment Law in Montana

Contract

Can a business make you sign an emplyment contract if the job wasn't posted that way, and there is nothing about contracts in the hiring section of the employee manual. I am a person who got the job of my supervisor and now they want me to sign a year employee contract. After one year my job is evaluated and they decide whether or not they want to renew my contract. If not I am out of a job. No one else in my building has had to do one of these and I am concerned. One of the supervisors said it would be a way to keep people for staying for a long time. Is this legal?

Re: Contract

I would need to review in order to advise in conjunction with your employee manual and state law, but most people these days would love a guaranteed year of employment, as opposed to being able to be terminated on a moment's notice.
