Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Montana
Sued for Negligence
Can I be sued for negligence for a sewer backup in a rental unit? As soon as I was notified of the sewer backup I hired a plumber to clean the sewer lines. After the sewer lines were cleared I cleaned and disinfected the affected area including all surfaces where any effluent came into contact.

Re: Sued for Negligence
Who would sue and why? What are damages? If you had prior notice of a situation that wasn't resolved, you may have demonstable negligence, but was the unit unavailable for any time? Any property damage or illness?
You have insurance?
