Legal Question in Business Law in Nebraska

Getting Deposit Refunded from Leased Space

I fulfilled a 5 year contract with a building owner who will not return my deposit, will not give me a reason, and has done this to others in the past. He hopes the ''leasee''

will just not want to fight him, and he keeps the deposits. I cannot find an attorney who wants to mess with a $1000. Deposit, but I want my money, as I have fulfilled the contract. Where do I go?

Go to Small Claims court. You don't need an attorney. Get the info. off the internet and/or from your local court and file it with the small fee. (usu 35-50 bucks) You need to document your case and have witnesses if necessary. You may get a judgment against the landlord and , if not paid, file another suit for execution (Court will authorize the County to sell off his property to pay the judgment.) Most likely the landlord will pay you before this happens. Good luck
