when traveling in company vehicle dose the employer have to pay wages and gas

It depends on the circumstances, company policy, and the purpose of the travel. As a general rule, the person making the decision to travel bears the expense. If the company required the travel, they are usually obligated to pay expenses and salary. If the individual chose to make the trip, it is generally at their own expense and they may owe the employer for unauthorized use of the vehicle. The employee does not make decisions that would require employer to write a check unless they have been specifically authorized to do so.
