Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Nebraska

Medical Guarantor Fraud

If someone else signs your name as the Guarantor for a medical visit/bill and you aren't a party to any of it, what is your recourse? Specific to myself - my name and address was given to the hospital for a medical visit. I was never there & knew nothing of the visit. I got a call from the medical facility that the address given was not accurate, but they had my phone number & called to clear that up. If I can figure out the person who signed falsely, what can I legally do to hopefully prosecute them?

Thank you for any information you can provide.

Re: Medical Guarantor Fraud

I can address your situation as a consumer attorney. Meaning, you're not responsible to the hospital as a guarantor unless you expressly contracted (so you signed the standard release we all get saying if your insurance doesn't pay, you're on the hook) or are legally liable for the treatment anyway (minor child, other dependent.)

I can't answer the question re: criminal prosecution other than to advise you should report the crime, and contact the county attorney.
