Legal Question in Criminal Law in Nebraska
criminal mischief
My son was charged with this and has been to court twice trying to get this resolved last time he went the judge asked how he was gone to plead and my son said not guilty the judge then stated that he needed to hire an attorney which my son said he could not afford and then judge rescheduled the hearing again. Why?

Re: criminal mischief
Likely so that your son could get a public defender.

Re: criminal mischief
It should have been rescheduled for "appearance of counsel". That way the public defnder he gets (or the attorney he hires) can enter their appearance at that court date.
