Is there a time frame for reporting an assault.

It depends on your reason for not reporting it when it happened. Police and prosecutors are generally unsympathetic to crime victims who wait to report a crime until they feel like it. The reasoning is, "If it wasn't important enough to report when it happened, don't bother me now." If you have a good reason for delaying the report, call the police and make your report.
