Legal Question in Criminal Law in Nebraska

Felony Expungement

I was convicted of two class 4 felonies in 1999 in the state of Nebraska. (attempted breaking and entering, and attempted theft of movable property of value in excess of $1000) I was given two years probation and restitution - which I served and paid without incident. Since then my record has been spotless.

These convictions are like a lead weight around my neck... keeping me from getting the house I want, and jobs I want, deserve and am qualified for.

Is there any legal recourse I can take to have this matter resolved?

That would depend on Nebraska Law relating to expungement of criminal felony records.

Under Colorado Law, any criminal conviction whether on trial or by plea stays on your record for ever except juvenile felony records that are sealed but may be avaialble for law enforcement purposes and in other criminal cases in limited circumstances.

You are lucky the convictions happened in Nebraska. In Colorado, any conviction that occurs as an adult stays on your record forever. Nebraska law may be different. Nebraska law applies here. Hopefully it is less severe. Good luck.
