Legal Question in Criminal Law in Nebraska
I'm a teacher, a student bragged on Facebook that he slashed my tires I happened to have a flat tire at the time, and one that couldn't be fixed. Now that this posting has come to light through a parent who called the school, the student is saying he was joking that he didn't do anything. I've filed a police report but do I have any other means of going after this student for what he did and for what he said on Facebook?
1 Answer from Attorneys
The easiest and cheapest option is to just talk to the student's parents and ask them to reimburse you for the expense of replacing the tire. Second option would be to file a claim in small claims court. An attorney cannot appear in small claims court on your behalf, but you may hire an attorney to coach you on how to prepare and present your case.
