Re: Out of state visitation
The validity of a divorce judgment is not affected by the parties subsequent change of residence. However, if a child changes residence for six months or longer, the courts in the State of new residence will have jurisdiction to address custody and visitation matters.
Parental kidnapping is a crime. If you have evidence that the father has taken steps to not return your child after visitation, contact the FBI because the father may be guilty of attempted kidnapping. In any case, have a current photograph of your child, fingerprints, father's car tag numbers if possible, and as much information as possible about the father's business, social, and family associates. Also, collect information about the father's financial accounts. The information can help authorites find the father. However, the child should not be used as a source for the information.
