Legal Question in Insurance Law in Nebraska

my truck was stolen but was found and the insurance wants to total it. I am told that I can buy it back but why should I have to buy my own truck back. It does not belong to the Insurance company it belongs to me. could you help me understand.

If you have comprehensive or theft insurance the insurance company will "buy" your truck from you because it is a total loss and you purchased insurance from them for that purpose. They will give you market value for the truck minus any deductible that you have. You can buy back the vehicle from them if you want to repair it yourself. I hope I have answered your question.
