celebrity photos in crafting

Is it legal to use celebrity photos that I find on the internet in my crafting? Is it legal to change the photo? For example: take the celebrity out of the background and place the celebrity in a different background using Photoshop. Also, can I sell my crafts if I use the celebrity's photos in them? Thanks for your help.

If you did not take the photo(s) yourself then your reproduction of the photo (or portion thereof) would be copyright infringement...of course, if you are talking about making a single work of art or very few and not selling them, it is unlikely you will have any legal issues as you will not pop up on their radar...if you are talking about reproducing a large number and charging for them then you greatly increase the chances of a copyright infringement action being filed against you.
