Legal Question in Disability Law in Nevada
My husband is disabled with multiple physical challenges and relies upon the assistance of two full time service animals, one for mobility and balance and the other for his MS and anxiety attacks. He attempted to enter a Jimboy's restaurant in Reno on Clear Acre Ln for lunch with our grandson and was refused service on account of his service dogs. These animals are fully trained and vested, he tried unsuccessfully to explain to the restaraunt manager that these are service animals and allowed by law to enter the premises. Long story short, he was again told to take his dogs and leave. The police were called by somebody, falsely reporting an armed and belligerant man in the restaurant. The Reno PD did arrive on the scene and after discussing this incident with my husband they advised him to file civil charges and to contact an attorney. Immediantly after the incident my husband suffered a severe anxiety attack that triggered a sharp rise in his blood pressure causing him to require medical attention. Where do we go from here? This restaurant manager because of her violation of his rights nearly caused my husband to suffer a stroke or heart attack and did cause him undue physical and emotional suffering by violating his rights and causing an unneccessary confrontation, all of which was witness by our three year old grandson, who was quite frightened by the incident. We have already filed the complaint with the Reno PD as the officers advised us. What is our next step as this is not a matter that we wish to just dismiss and who should we contact next?

You do have grounds to sue for violation of the Americans With Disabilities Act and perhaps other grounds under state and federal law. My law firm handles this kind of case. The next step is dependent on the facts. Please call me on Monday or sometime next week to discuss the case.
