Legal Question in Disability Law in Nevada

My husband is a schizophrenic. His previous employer did not know that he was. Now a parts runner lady who is married to his supervisor is going around town claiming he is a serial killer and psychotic. They told this to a person that we personally know that works at Napa Auto Parts. They are willing to testify. They knew he was on respiridone a common mental illness drug. The company in question is in close contact with a variety of other job potential opportunities that he could have. He recently had an interview with a company that does fix the equipment of his previous employer. Even with his experience he was denied the job. He has 15+ years fixing Heavy equipment. The company is a large company in Las Vegas doing work in Elko, NV. In June of 2012 he had his first psychotic break and the second one was in August. He has been stable on meds since. No relapses. Should we go get an attorney for defamation?

How is the company at fault? And, part of what she says is true. Your husband does suffer from a psychotic illness. I'm pretty sure he's not a serial killer.

You can see an attorney for defamation. The first thing to do is to tell the company in writing that their employee is defaming your husband in this way and you are going to get a lawyer if she doesn't stop. There is an outside chance of finding her employer liable if she's doing it in the course and scope of her employment. It's not the strongest case for several reasons however.
