Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Nevada
Bankruptcy
about bankruptcy.chapter 7.if you have a home in another country do you have to declare it as an asset and will it be protected from creditors. or is there an exempt for assets outside of the USA.
1 Answer from Attorneys
Property outside of the US
Bankruptcy law requires you to list ALL assets, not just the ones you don't care about or that you think the Court won't find out about.
Most of the exemptions available to you are listed in NRS 21.090. Overseas property that you do not live in is not included as an exemption.
The reason you hire an attorney is to help you find loopholes that may allow you to keep property. Although I cannot guarantee that I could help you, if you are not represented, I would certainly urge you to hire someone to analyse your situation.
