Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Nevada
Claiming possible future income
I am considering filing chapter 7 bankruptcy and am also in the process of filing for disability for my back. My concern is that if I am approved for disability which I should know within a month that I will receive a lump sum of money which won't be enough to pay off all of the bills I would include in bankruptcy. If I file Bankruptcy now will the courts take that money when I receive it?

Pending Disability Claim
Nevada laws allow you to keep most kinds of disability benefits even if you file bankruptcy. So if your disability claim is through Worker's Compensation, there is no problem. Social Security Disability, should be okay. Private Disability Insurance, also protected from creditors in Bankruptcy.
Please call my office for an appointment if you are in Clark County and are serious about filing.
