Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Nevada
Lawsuit dismissed by bankruptcy court
My attorney is frantic for me to sign a document saying I acknowledge the bankruptcy courts dismissal of my case. I don't understand why I have to sign anything if my case is being dismissed. I don't agree with the dismissal and the company is still doing busines.. The case never made it to court. It seems very suspicious that he needs my signature now and only notified me a few days before the hearing. What can be up?

Signature needed on document dismissing Bankruptcy
There could be any number of reasons why your attorney needs your signature. The Bankruptcy court does require paperwork to be submitted promptly with appropriate signatures. There are penalties for not cooperating, such as you being ordered to pay the other sides attorney fees. While I appreciate the fact that you are disappointed at losing your suit, I believe it is in your best interests to look at what your lawyer has for you to sign before leaping to the conclusion that your lawyer is acting suspiciously .
