Keeping Settlement Money in Chapter 13
Whether you can keep the money you receive in a lawsuit after filing a Chapter 13 depends on whether 1) the money was claimed as exempt on Schedule C of the Bankruptcy OR 2) whether you are paying your unsecured creditors an amount at least equal to the amount you are receiving as a settlement.
